Ethics in Recruiting
Recruiters and employers are both bound by labor laws that guide them to treat job candidates fairly and equally. Those legal requirements are at the core of ethics in recruiting. At Step Up Recruiting, we take those ethics very seriously. There are several that stand out and guide our business practices every day:
We treat every candidate with respect, and will not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, origin, religion, age, or political affiliation. We work with clients who operate under the same standard of equal employment opportunity.
We place candidates based on their match to the potential employer’s need for specific skills, knowledge, certifications or licenses, experience, potential, and the candidate’s own preference for corporate culture.
We require that our clients, the potential employers, are transparent with us about their requirements and job descriptions, and we work with them to identify those requirements and descriptions so that we may accurately and honestly explain them to our candidates.
We are transparent about our selection process, with both our clients and the candidates.
We are honest in all our interactions with both clients and candidates. We will not participate in misrepresentation or concealment of material information from any party directly involved in a hiring transaction.
Like many recruiters, our ethics guide our business choices.
We reserve the right to end business relationships with companies and candidates who demonstrate an unwillingness to be honest and ethical during hiring transactions.
We respect our clients’ need for discretion when hiring and their right to protect proprietary information, and are careful to treat our clients’ reputations, communications, and information in a secure way, just as we do for our own business.
We respect our candidates’ need for discretion when seeking a new placement while still employed.
These are, and should be, standard ethics for employers and recruiters involved in the hiring of employees. Step Up Recruiting goes a step further:
We are committed to a great fit between employer and candidate, now and into the future. A previously placed candidate is always first and foremost a Step Up Recruiting placement. Our clients and candidates trust us to find both of them a perfect fit. If that fit is no longer comfortable, our first response will always be to improve the existing relationship between employer and employee.
That means we will guide your new (or not-so-new) employee on what they can do to improve fit and become successful and productive again in the original placement. Is there a need to seek more training? An unmet desire for a promotion or a raise? We can often help employees stay in place or move within their present company to become a great fit and a productive team member again.
Only when all avenues for retention have been explored and a resolution is not possible, will Step Up Recruiting help that employee find a new position. Our sincere commitment to a great, lasting fit benefits both our candidates and our clients, and is one of the reasons Step Up Recruiting is a trusted name in recruiting.
